In his talk “Access to Medicines as a Moral Imperative and Human Right,” Quigley will explore the challenge of ensuring both robust development of new medicines and access to medicines for those in need — a challenge present in the U.S. and around the world.

Quigley has written on this issue for multiple international and national publications, includingForeign AffairsandAmerica.He is the founder of People of Faith for Access to Medicines and author of the book “Prescription for the People: An Activist’s Guide to Making Medicines Affordable for All”(Cornell University Press, 2017).

His book “Walking Together, Walking Far”has been required reading for incoming students in Notre Dame’s program. , director of Global Health Training at the Eck Institute for Global Health said, “We are incredibly fortunate to have Professor Quigley come to campus to elaborate on the role of activism to initiate global change and the partnerships needed for a successful program.”

The theme of this year’s Notre Dame Forum is “Going Global: Exploring the Challenges and Opportunities of Globalization.” More information is available at
