Devers Program in Dante 91视频 to sponsor lecture series

Justin Steinberg, visiting assistant professor of Romance languages and literatures at the University of Notre Dame, will deliver a lecture titled 鈥淒ante鈥檚 First Editors: The Memoriali bolognesi and the Politics of Vernacular Transcription鈥 at 4:45 p.m. September 20 (Thursday) in the Department of Special Collections, Room 102 Hesburgh Library, at the University of Notre Dame.p. The lecture is the first of three this semester in a series titled 鈥淭he Languages of Italy鈥 sponsored by Notre Dame鈥檚 Devers Program in Dante 91视频.p. Hermann Haller, Devers Visiting Professor in Dante and Italian 91视频 at Notre Dame, will deliver a talk titled 鈥淚taly鈥檚 Other Voices: The Literary Tradition of Dialect鈥 at 7 p.m. Nov. 13 (Tuesday) in the auditorium of the Hesburgh Center for International 91视频. The talk will be part of a weeklong seminar to be presented by Haller.p. Sherry Roush, assistant professor of Italian at Pennsylvania State University, will lecture at 4:45 p.m. Nov. 29 (Thursday) in Room 102 of the Hesburgh Library on 鈥淒ante鈥檚 Ghost and the Language of Florentine Politics at the Turn of the Sixteenth Century.鈥漰. The lectures are free and open to the public, and each will be followed by a reception.p. The Devers Program in Dante 91视频 was established in 1995 with a $1-million endowment gift from William and Katherine Devers. In addition to sponsoring an annual lecture series, the Devers program funds rare book acquisitions in the University鈥檚 historic Dante collection and supports print and electronic publication of scholarly research in the field of Italian 91视频.
