Exhibition in O’Shaughnessy Hall commemorates Holocaust

"Remembrance: The Holocaust in a Global Context"

An exhibition titled “” will be on display through Oct. 16 (Friday) in the Great Hall of O’Shaughnessy Hall on the University of Notre Dame campus.

The exhibition, which is free and open to the public, concerns Germany in the years immediately following World War II and the Holocaust. The exhibition explores the manner in which the country has come to terms with its past, and suggests comparisons between German and other societies in the assimilation of their collective memories.

Sponsored by the , the exhibition is the centerpiece of “,” a series of lectures, films and gallery talks at Notre Dame in commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz.

The curator of the exhibition, , professor of contemporary German literature, culture and society at the University of Leeds, will lead gallery talks from 12:50 p.m. to 2 p.m. Monday (Oct. 5) in the Great Hall of O’Shaughnessy. A schedule of other events in the conference is available on its . The exhibition in O’Shaughnessy Hall is open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. during regular operating hours.
