Kroc Institute to mark 9/11 anniversary with panel on peacebuilding

What have we learned in the decade since 9/11 that should inform a renewed vision for the United States as a force for peace and stability in the world?

Three leading thinkers will address this question in a panel sponsored by Notre Dame鈥檚 Sept. 9 (Friday) at 4 p.m. in the Hesburgh Center for International 91视频 auditorium at Notre Dame. This event is free and open to the public.

The panel discussion 鈥淪trategies of Peace after 鈥楾he War on Terror鈥欌 will feature Andrew Bacevich, professor of international relations and history at Boston University; Robin Wright, a Middle East journalist and foreign policy analyst; and Waleed El-Ansary, University Chair of Islamic 91视频 at Xavier University.

Panelists also will answer questions posed by Kroc Institute director and members of the audience.

Andrew Bacevich is a career officer (retired) in the U.S. Army, a historian, and the author of, most recently, 鈥淭he Limits of Power: The End of American Exceptionalism.鈥

Robin Wright is the author of 鈥淒reams and Shadows: The Future of the Middle East鈥 and 鈥淩ock the Casbah: Rage and Rebellion Across the Islamic World.鈥

Waleed El-Ansary is a scholar of comparative religion, Islam, and Islamic economics, and the author of 鈥淭he Spiritual Significance of Jihad in the Islamic Approach to Markets and the Environment.鈥
