Martha Minow to Deliver 16th Annual Hesburgh Lecture

Martha Minow, Dean and Jeremiah Smith, Jr. Professor at Harvard Law 91视频, will deliver the 16th annual Rev. Theodore M. Hesburgh, C.S.C., Lecture in Ethics and Public Policy at 4:15 p.m., March 16 (Tuesday) in the Hesburgh Center Auditorium. This lecture is free and open to the public.

Minow is an expert in human rights and advocacy for members of racial and religious minorities and for women, children and persons with disabilities. She has served on the Independent International Commission on Kosovo and helped launch Imagine Co-existence, a program of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, to promote peaceful development in post-conflict societies. At Harvard Law 91视频, she teaches civil procedure and constitutional law.

Minow鈥檚 books include 鈥淧artners, Not Rivals: Privatization and the Public Good;鈥 鈥淏etween Vengeance and Forgiveness: Facing History After Genocide and Mass Violence;鈥 鈥淣ot Only for Myself: Identity, Politics and Law;鈥 and 鈥淢aking All the Difference: Inclusion, Exclusion, and American Law.鈥 Her latest book is 鈥淚n Brown鈥檚 Wake: Legacies of America鈥檚 Educational Landmark鈥 (forthcoming).

The annual Hesburgh Lecture was established by Notre Dame鈥檚 Kroc Institute for International Peace 91视频 in honor of Rev. Theodore M. Hesburgh, C.S.C., president emeritus of Notre Dame. Recent Hesburgh lecturers have included Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Shirin Ebadi, Harvard ethicist Rev. J. Bryan Hehir and former United Nations Undersecretary General Shashi Tharoor.
