
The University of Notre Dame will offer its sixth massive open online course (MOOC), 鈥,鈥 beginning on March 15 (Tuesday).
The six-week course, taught by , associate professor of architecture, with , graduate student in architecture at Notre Dame, was developed by Mayernik and the with the support of Notre Dame鈥檚 .
The course will concern the people and events that shaped Rome鈥檚 Renaissance and Baroque architecture and the architecture of the world beyond Rome. In addition to considering the city鈥檚 urban forms, sacred relics, monuments, theaters and other buildings 鈥 and what they reflect of a people鈥檚 values 鈥 it is designed to teach its participants how to 鈥渞ead鈥 other cities as well.
鈥淐ities have an enormous impact on us and our planet,鈥 Myernik said. 鈥淟earning about how the great cities of the past were shaped makes us better equipped to think about how to shape our modern cities.鈥
